Slow down and be safe: Good news as city road work continues

Three companies — Bahamas Hot Mix (BHM), Freeport Construction (FRECON) and Waugh Construction — have again been engaged to carry out the work on 18 roads at a total of $1.4 million.

Sections of three highways and a number of roads in the Freeport area will be under construction in the coming weeks as Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) continues its comprehensive infrastructure improvement initiative. This is the second year of the five-year initiative which involves extensive repairs, reconstruction and resurfacing of roadways within the city limits.

Three companies — Bahamas Hot Mix (BHM), Freeport Construction (FRECON) and Waugh Construction — have again been engaged to carry out the work on 18 roads at a total of $1.4 million.

The locations impacted are as follows: Westminster Drive, which is located in Windsor Park; GB Highway, a mile of the road at the end of the area paved last year; West Sunrise Highway, just from the entrance of Regency Theatre to Hawksbill Round-about; Silk Cotton, in the civic industrial area; Oleander Street, which is in east section; a portion of Warren J. Levarity Highway, just west of Bahama Rock; Green Turtle, Halibut and Dogfish streets in Caravel Beach; South Shipton, Back-A-Town; Pioneers’ Way from Frobisher to Columbus Drive and Peach Street, where repairs will be carried out at each of the junctions.
